In our small village, most families don't hire catering services to cook and serve food during wakes and after-burial lunches. Neighbors, friends, relatives and churchmates come and help prepare food. They also bring the village-owned large cooking implements which are lent to villagers who need them.

The village did not need to spend a lot for these cooking implements. Villagers made use of what's available in the area.

As you can probably guess, this wood-burning stove is made of a used oil drum and the large pan is a large laundry basin.

Used oil drums can be reused in a lot of useful ways, like making a large stove or a large plant pot, or a repainted water container for watering garden plants.

Laundry basins can be used as large pans for cooking food for gatherings.
